Automatically Allocate Attendance and Meal Counts for Participant Program Type

This feature will automatically update the program type in which we place an attendance or meal count. The available program types are:

  1. CACFP Standard
  2. CACFP Preschool
  3. CACFP School Age
  4. Head Start
  5. ARAM
  6. SFSP
  7. Non-CACFP


There are several scenarios in which having automatic allocation turned on will impact your claim. Those scenarios are explained below.

Adding a Participant Program Type

  • In this scenario, a participant was marked as CACFP Standard for the entire month
  • Before processing the claim, the sponsor realizes that the child should have been marked as eligible for the ARAM program type.
  • The sponsor then marks the child as eligible for ARAM

With automatic program type allocation checked

  • Meal counts for the month will be moved from CACFP Standard to ARAM whenever possible.

Without automatic program type allocation

  • Meal counts for the month will remain as CACFP Standard

Removing or Changing a Participant Program Type

  • In this scenario, a participant was marked as CACFP Standard for the entire month.
  • Before processing the claim, the sponsor realizes that the child is enrolled in Head Start claim
  • The sponsor then changes the participant program type from CACFP Standard to Head Start

With automatic program type allocation checked

  • Meal counts for the month will be moved from CACFP Standard to Head Start whenever possible.

Without automatic program type allocation checked

  • Meal counts for the month will remain as CACFP Standard even though that is no longer a valid program type for that participant

Adding a New Program Type or Changing a Program Type Date in Site Details

  • In this scenario, a site is either starting a program type (for example, beginning ARAM for the school year) or ending a program type (for example, ending ARAM for the summer)
  • A participant was eligible for both ARAM and CACFP Standard and was marked as CACFP Standard for the entire month.

Then the sponsor adds ARAM program dates in Site Details

With automatic program type allocation checked

Meal counts for the month will be moved from CACFP Standard to ARAM whenever possible.

Without automatic program type allocation checked

Meal counts for the month will stay as CACFP Standard.
