Using Master Menus

Master Menus are helpful for sponsors that use Central Menus or Central Kitchens.
1. Central Menus
Have a menu that is used by multiple locations who all prepare their own food

2. Central Kitchen
Operate using a central kitchen model, where food is prepared at one facility and then delivered to the sites

For Central Menu Sites
Step 1: Tell the System Which Site is the Master Menu Site
First, we need to know which site has the Master Menu.
- Go into Site Details
- Check the box for Master Menu Site

Step 2: Tell Us Which Sites Use the Master Menu
Next we need to link the Master Menu site to the sites that use that menu
- Go into Site Details
- From the dropdown "Uses Master Menu" select the Master Menu Site

Step 3: Enter the Menu into the Master Menu Site
- Enter the menu as usual
- Menus will be automatically populated to the linked sites
- Edits made to the menu in the Master Menu site will be automatically transferred to the linked sites
- If food production records exist in the linked sites and a menu is changed, the food production records will be updated accordingly

For Central Kitchens
Follow Steps 1-3 from above
Step 4: Enter Meal Orders
The Central Kitchen will need to know how much to prepare and deliver to each location. To help with that, enter meal orders for each site.
Step 5: Create Food Production Records for the Central Kitchen
The food production record for the central kitchen will reflect all of the food prepared for all of the locations. To make the food production for the central kitchen:
- Go to the Master Menu Site
- Click on Menu
- Click on the date and meal type
- Click on Edit Food Production Record
At the top of the page, the meal orders will be listed by site and age range. If these meal orders are accurate, then copy the totals by age range to the food production amounts below. In the example above, there are 40 orders for the 6-12 yr age range and 225 orders for the 13-17 age range

Step 6: Create Food Production Records for the Sites
You can create site-level food production records right from the same screen.
- Check the boxes to the right of the meal orders
- Click the button to Create Site-Level FPR
