License Capacity by Age Range: Setting Age Range Combinations at the Site Level

License Capacity by Age Range is one of the two methods available to ensure that providers and centers are claiming meals within their licensed capacity.
Age Ranges are defined at the sponsor level and then a capacity for each age range is set at the site level.
But sometimes that's not enough! Especially if there is a limit for each age range and then an additional limit for the number of children overall. That's where age range combinations come in. Age range combinations are used on top of capacities for each age range.

- Click on Site Details from the main site dashboard

- Scroll down to the section called "Age Range Combinations"
- Click the blue button for + Manage age Range Combinations

- Click the blue button +Add Age Range Combination

- Select the age range(s) included in the age range combination
- Enter the maximum capacity in "Not to Exceed" field
- Indicate if the age range combination applies to the night licensed hours.
- Night Capacity is only used when the state agency allows different capacities for overnight care versus daytime care
- Click Save

Example
Let's take the following license capacity as an example:
| Capacity | Name | Age Range |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Infants | Birth to 17 months |
| 12 | Toddlers | 18 months to 2 years |
| 25 | Preschool | 3 years to 4 years |
| 30 | School Age | 5 years to 12 years |
| 50 | ALL AGES | BIRTH TO 12 YEARS |
For the first set of four capacities, you would define your age ranges accordingly and then enter the license capacity like this:

That accounts for the limit for each age range. But what about the last line? That's where an age range combination comes in. You need to add an age range combination of 50 that includes all age ranges. Here is what it would look like:
