Generate an API Key

This feature allows users to link their account in their child care management software with My Food Program.


Once this link is established, the below might be possible, depending on the specific child care management software used:

  • Participants created in child child care management software can be sent over to My Food Program
  • Menus entered in My Food Program can be sent to the child care management software
  • Attendance and meal counts entered in the child care management software can be sent to My Food Program

To use this feature:

  • Click on Staff or Users from the main site dashboard.
  • Click on the name of the user for which you want to generate an API key
  • Scroll down to the section labeled API Key
  • Click the blue "Generate API Key" button
  • The field will be filled with your unique API Key
  • Only one API Key per user can be generated. If there is already an API Key for a user, the button to generate a new one will not be available
  • Enter the API Key into the appropriate field in your child care management software
    • Contact your child care management software if you do not know where to enter your API Key for the My Food Program integration
